Hannah had her first Level 1 gymnastics meet on June 20. Level 1-3 is just for fun and to get them used to competing. They do learn routines and get to compete on beam, vault, floor and bars. They have judges, their scores go up on the big digital thingy-ma-jig, and at the end they get their places in each event and then for all-around.
Hannah did very well for her first time. She just needs to work on making those arms straight and tight when she salutes the judges.
Here are the results:
Vault 9.800-- 1st place
Beam 9.550-- 1st place
Floor 9.500-- 1st place
Bars 8.600-- 2nd place
All-Around-- 37.450 2nd place
After this meet, Hannah moved up to Level 2 Team. Besides doing Team, she is also in Dynamites 2, which meets 3 times a week. Dynamite gymnasts are hand picked by coaches. It is more challenging and they work on perfecting skills and body conditioning. The Dynamte girls are training to move right into Team Level 4 which is where you really compete. Hannah's biggest struggle right now is her upper strength, but it has been awesome to watch that develop so rapidly in the last year and a half!
